Sarah Olney has posted an update on the latest closure of Hammersmith Bridge, including mention of a floating bridge...
I have had an update from TfL on Hammersmith Bridge today, saying that "work is now underway with contractors to explore what mitigations could be deployed to allow the bridge to be reopened to pedestrians and cyclists and river traffic passing underneath." I do hope that they will find a way to reopen the bridge to foot and cycle traffic. In the meantime, they are working on enhancements to the bus services, especially the 533 and services needed to get pupils to school across the river.— Sarah Olney (@sarahjolney1) August 18, 2020
I have also asked them to take another look at putting in a floating bridge. If river traffic can't pass under the bridge anyway then this seems like an idea worth pursuing.— Sarah Olney (@sarahjolney1) August 18, 2020
I will keep pressing them for news and pass on whatever I receive. (3/3)
