From MyLondon: "Hammersmith & Fulham Council has admitted it doesn't yet know when Hammersmith Bridge will reopen.
"The admission from Hammersmith and Fulham Council came after Labour and Tory councillors yesterday (May 15) clashed over the state of the 132-year-old Victorian crossing.
"The packed Town Hall heard that huge cracks were found in the Grade II-listed bridge’s cast iron structure. It closed to all vehicle traffic on April 10 because of structural defects.
"Tory leader, Councillor Andrew Brown, said there had been a “complete failure” from the Council and City Hall on how to repair the bridge."
Our comment: it's frustrating that the politicians reported in the article make no mention of alternative possibilities for the bridge, other than re-opening it to vehicles. It seems to be little more than a political football at present.
