Hammersmith Bridge Taskforce meeting, 4 February 2021

The latest meeting of the Hammersmith Bridge Taskforce was heldon 4th February. You can see the report of the meeting here.

A few key points:

  • LBHF provided an update on the feasibility study commissioned into the Foster & Partners and COWI temporary bridge proposal. This study should be completed in the next 3 weeks, i.e. by 25th February.
  • "The Taskforce also heard the latest from TfL regarding the procurement for the temporary ferry service, with details of the 3 shortlisted bidders expected to be announced in the next few weeks. The timing for services beginning will depend on the winning bidder’s proposals, though the need to have the ferry running as soon as possible is universally recognised". It's amazing that this is taking so long.

You can read the rest for yourself.

The Taskforce really does seem to move at a snail's pace. Let's not forget, it was set up in September last year. At the time, Grant Shapps was pictured in front of the bridge, saying that he had "established a task force and called in specialist engineers to deliver rapid solutions".

And here we are, five months later, with no real sign of any progress at all.
